Brief description

 

 

The objective of sustainable mobility is to make the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation - a bicycle, scooter, your feet or the bus and train - "socially acceptable" at school. Pupils should discover the fun of an independent, environmentally friendly type of mobility and learn how to recognize their own responsibility when choosing a type of transportation. They are to become familiar with the part they can play in a future sustainable system of mobility.

Together with the Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) and the Pädagogische Hochschule Schwäbisch-Gmünd, IFEU has been conducting the UBA research project (No. 202 61 218/04) in 2002 to 2005.

The most important steps of the project were:

  • Investigating the current state of mobility education in the German states and abroad
  • Creating a mobility consulting concept for everyday school life, which is to be implemented on a nationwide basis at 10 pilot schools.
  • Creating a consulting guideline for schools to implement the sustainable mobility consulting concept including a CD-ROM with teaching aids.
